OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

The Objective of an AME Training institute is to provide a student with necessary knowledge, experience and skill on Aircraft Maintenance Techniques in order to pass the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Licence Examination conducted by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

SCOPE OF APPROVAL

Southern College of Engineering & Technology was approved by DGCA to conduct Ab-initio in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to cover Basic Licence in Mechanical Stream (Aeroplane & Power plant) comprising Light Aeroplane (LA), Piston Engine (PE), Heavy Aeroplane (HA), Jet Engine (JE) in the old scheme.

The Institute is approved by DGCA under CAR 147 (Basic) to conduct Basic Aircraft Maintenance Training Course in Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine).

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Basic Maintenance Training course CAR 147 (Basic) is of 02 years (04 Semesters) Southern college of Engineering & Technology, Chalakudy (MTO) has made a viable written agreement with AI Engineering Services Limited, Thiruvananthapuram for imparting 30% of the total Practical Training (08 Weeks) on modern Aircraft.

EXAMINATIONS

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License Examination is conducted by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as per CAR 66 Modules.

SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS

At the end of every Semester, Examinations will be conducted by the Institute. On successful completion of the Semester examinations, mark sheet giving details of the marks obtained in each subject will be issued to the students. On successful completion of the training, the Institute shall award a Course Completion Certificate.

QUALIFYING MARKS

The pass mark in each subject is 75%. Candidates who are not successful in passing some subjects of a semester may be Re-examined for those subject(s) until they pass the complete semester. AME examination conducted by DGCA can be written after passing the required semester examinations of the Institute.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

a. Indian Students

For admission to the AME training course, the candidate should be have passed 10 +2 class in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or a 3 year diploma in applicable branch.

b. Foreign Students

A certificate issued by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION of the country of origin in respect of the student passing the higher secondary school examination (10 +2 or equivalent).

NOTE: The students should have passed 10 +2 class Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as in the case of Indian student, failing which, his case for admission would not be considered.

METHOD OF ADMISSION

  • Admission starts in the month of April and lasts till the month of July every year.
  • Classes tentatively commence from the 4th week of July.
  • Application form may be downloaded from our website/or may be obtained from office.

  • DGCA Examination Fees will be borne by the Students as per Module papers.

REFUND POLICY

A candidate applying for the course, after the commencement of the course, in no circumstance the fees remitted to the college will not be refundable.
